INDOOR Triathlon, Swim – 10 minutes, Bike/NuStep 25 minutes, Run/Walk 15 Minutes. The goal for this event is to cover as much distance in the time provided as possible. This Indoor Triathlon is based on distance rather than time – meaning your score will be recorded as total distance covered for each section of the event, and not completing a set distance as quickly as possible.
Participants will swim for 10 minutes in the pool. A Staff member will use a whistle to mark the start and stop time. Once started, participants can stop to rest by hanging on the wall or by standing. When the stop whistle goes off, all racers must stop and exit the pool. Their laps will be counted for them and then turned in for each team/ individual.
Participants will bike for 25 minutes. Each bike will have a power console that tracks distance. Participants will be allowed to adjust their own tension throughout the bike portion. At the end of the 25 minutes, a Staff member will signal participants to stop and will record the total distance based on the bike’s computer. Biking will take place in the cycle studio. If participant has selected to use the NuStep, they will report to the fitness floor to do so.
Participants will run/walk for15 minutes. This segment will be done on treadmills on the fitness floor. A Staff member will ensure that no participants press their start button before the start is called and that all participants stop their machines at the end of 15 minutes. Treadmills will stay at a 0% incline. Participants can control how fast they set their treadmills and can change the speed throughout the 15 minutes. Resting must be done by slowing the treadmill, and not by stepping off the sides of the treadmill.
